COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT)

A CIT is a volunteer counselor who assists the Senior Counselor and is earning credit hours in community service toward high school graduation requirements. 

Being a counselor at camp is a serious commitment and requires patience, and the ability to keep a positive attitude and happy face in trying situations, as well as long hours.  But there are many rewards that focusing on children brings, such as seeing the joy on the faces of children we serve, and watching their incredible growth during the camp experience.

GENERAL VOLUNTEER

A General Volunteer is someone who is not paid and helps in many different capacities for the benefit of helping Blooming Place for Kids primarily because he or she chooses to do so. Such as helping with charity golf tournament, charity events which benefit Blooming Place for Kids and the children we serve. We appreciate the wonderful volunteers who help us all year long and during camp.

Behavior Specialist

The Behavior Intervention Specialist consults with staff on a variety of behavioral management issues and provides assistance when nessasary with behavioral intervention during camp.

Camp Nurse

Responsible for implementation of camp health plan, ensuring the health of campers and staff, including dispensing of medications, maintaining all records and communicating when necessary with all staff, directors and care management.

Paid Positions

SENIOR COUNSELORS

The primary responsibility of a senior counselor is to stay upbeat and bring energy to their assigned campers by taking care of the daily needs of 5-6 campers in their cabin. This 24-hour-a-day job requires lots of energy and is focused on helping the campers have an exciting and empowering experience. Senior counselors are expected to lead by example and live in the cabin with campers.

Typically 1 CIT will join a senior counselor in the cabin for a 2 to 5 or 6 camper ratio. Senior Counselors are actively involved with campers and directly supervise campers.

ACTIVITY STAFF
(1 for Junior Camp and 1 for Senior Camp) 

Senior Staff positions assigned to performing evening activities and helping with skit night and dances/ BEING CREATIVE is a requirement!!! Activity staff is responsible for facilitating most evening activities including movie night and night swim.

Camp Director

This job includes specific responsibilities to help idetify and define the goals of camp and the goals of camper development, and/or reflect the director's rols in carrying out the goals as defined by the organization. To plan, dirct and supervise all camp programs and staff. Camp Director must also help recruit campers and returning staff, prepare and conduct pre-camp staff trainings. Develop routines, schedules and procedures for camp orientation. Assign staff activities and other responsibilities. Assign staff and campers to cabins or groups. Monitor, in association with Executive Director, crisis management plans and emergency procedures. Organize trips out of camp, and provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the "camp family".

Life Guard(s)

Responsible for overseeing the pool and any waterfront areas. General maintenance of pool involvement when possible in all program activities, and life guarding of pool during swimming times. Lifeguard must also perform duties of Senior Camp Counselor.

High Ropes

Facilitate campers through the challenge course, team building, processing, and initiatives course (low ropes). Must be a paid position and must have high ropes experience.
